Introduction
Welcome to Parker's Place! I'm Kat, Parker's mum.
Parker was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth, on January 15, 2013. It has been quite an adventure since then!
This is a place for me to direct, assist and guide parents on a similar journey with up to date facts and information. With the help of many other dedicated and loving friends and family members within the community, I will list Australian providers, resources and available assistance.
You may even be reading this after a diagnosis, or having been given a high risk in a Nuchal Translucency or other prenatal test.
With more than 1 in 1,000 live births resulting in a baby who also has Down syndrome, you are NOT ALONE- I promise!
My aim is to give you a factual, realistic view on what it is like to raise a baby with Down syndrome, and to show you the resources available to you, whether it's government policies and services you're looking for or a private Facebook forum to just talk with other parents.
Head over to our Forums tab and sign up to browse.
I also have a blog about raising a baby with Down syndrome, (and other things) which you can read by clicking on the tab above.
