This is real life. Today is the 13th of October.
One calendar month ago we said goodbye to the most precious gift I have ever been given.. Our beautiful son Blake. The same time last year, we were travelling as a happy beautiful family and making plans for our next trips and future in general. My how all that changed! With no warning, no lead up.
One day in March this year, we took Blake to hospital for a chesty cough, not knowing our whole life was about to change! I won't go into the full details here, but devastatingly we never managed to take our baby boy home.
Not through lack of strength and determination, bubba had plenty of that! And if love and adoration could have helped, he would honestly live forever- as he knew nothing but positive love!!!
If you had told me 12 months ago Blake would not be here today, I would have told you were mad, crazy, and had no idea what you are talking about... But sadly you would have been right. So if you had this insight and realised that your life can change forever without you giving anyone or anything permission, (and believe me, I truly hope none of you ever go through this) would you do anything differently?
Would you slow down? Take more notice of life ? Re-evaluate life? Would you have more time with your family? Would you put more effort into loving people than things? Would you realise things can wait and spend extra time with your kids?
We honestly have no idea how long we have with our kids and our families. Blake's journey seems to have touched so many people in so many different ways .. He is a little man who was so wanted and so loved. When you say, "I'd do anything for my kids!" Please be sure you mean it.
We love our little man more and more every day, as he taught us more than we will ever fully appreciate.
These are the words of a far from perfect mum, who did the best she could. But, I will openly say there are still things I would have done differently, had I have known ...
Love you, baby boy xxxx
